Teakha 茶 ° 家

One of the cutest cafes in Hong Kong is Teakha in Sheung Wan.  Hidden away on Tai Ping Shan Street is this adorable teahouse perfect for spending a few hours working on your laptop, catching up with a friend, or having some solo time journaling away.  I have been mostly working from co-working spaces since I've been in HK but wanting something more casual, I decided to try Teakha which has now earned an official stamp of approval from The Little Guide.

The main room.

There are technically three tiny, separate spaces so there is a choose-your-adventure element which is quite fun.  The first room on the west side is the main room to place your order and there are a few tables inside here (good for gabbing away with your girlfriend).  The second room next door is a great work space as there's a large communal table to work from.  This was my favorite and became my office for the day as it's great for focusing.  From the outside, it looks like the room just drops down and you can't quite figure out how to get in...but oh wait, step closer and you'll find steep stairs! Walk down them carefully and enjoy the cute cozy space. The last room can be accessed either from this room or outside on the street and this is where you can explore tea leaves to bring home and also have a cup there at one of the few tables inside.

They have a plethora of teas and snacks as well as brunch options like avocado toast with a HK twist of selecting pork floss or Thai sausage to go on top.  I went for the pork floss and substituted the poached egg that comes with it for scrambled.  It's very common to have a discounted add-on beverage in HK and Teakha has the same offer so I opted for the Cold Brew House Keemun Tea with Rose Leaves which was incredibly fragrant.  They are quite known for their chai tea as well however I've been avoiding dairy for the most part since I did the 30 days to healthy living detox as I've noticed my body reacts negatively to it and their only non-dairy option was soy (another no no), so I passed.  While I realize the pork floss is obviously not detox-friendly, life really is all about the balance so I decided to give it a try and it was indeed an interesting and tasty pairing.  The tea was definitely my favorite though and I had another glass during my visit.  I loved how they sprinkled actual rose leaves on top too!

Fab sprinkling of Iranian Rose

If you can make it early enough for breakfast, there is a great deal.

Overall, I absolutely love Teakha and will definitely be going back when I want a café workday in the neighborhood.  I recommend it for anyone else who has the flexibility to work remotely or needs a place to study.  I had the whole place pretty much to myself which felt quite magical.  The teahouse is quite popular though so I would just avoid it on the weekends.
