Best Resources for American Digital Nomads
UPDATED: JULY 13, 2020
Organizing yourself before you make the leap is a must, especially while you have easy access to a permanent US address. Below are the must have’s for every American Digital Nomad in order to optimize your travels and seamlessly go between various countries or states. I’ve been living the digital nomad lifestyle now for 3 years and personally use and pay for these services myself. I’ve updated this list since I created it originally in July 2017 and made adjustments to account for post-pandemic life as well.
Best Personal Credit Card with Travel Rewards: Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card
Thanks to this card, I’ve flown on many complimentary international flights and rested or munched in many lounges around the world. Earn 3x points on anything travel or food related as well as various travel perks like an annual Priority Pass account which gives you airport lounge access at most airports around the world. Most travelers and foodies already have this card from their huge promotion back in 2017 but it’s still my go-to and I’ve traveled all around the world for free thanks to this card. Airbnb
The best way to live like a local is to rent an apartment in your city. I've found many of my happy homes this way and recommend booking a few weeks in advance for the best, most unique places.
Transferwise
Figuring out international money transfers can be tricky but Transferwise simplifies it with money transfers at the current exchange rate. I use this with clients and friends.
T-Mobile
If you're American, you'll want to have T-Mobile before you leave home. Their standard plan comes with unlimited international data, text, and free calls back to the States over wi-fi.
